Dett and Julie Otterbeck, Owners

Dett has been building and remodeling for over 35 years. Since 1988 he has operated his own business. He began working as a carpenter, working and managing in the field each day. Today he works in the office handling Sales, Marketing, Estimating, Scheduling, Production Management, Purchasing, Job Costing and Employee Management. Dett enjoys hunting, fishing & camping with the family.

Julie has been involved in the business since day one. She has an A.A.S. Degree in Accounting and has been working in this field for over 35 years. With OBI Julie handles Accounting, Bookkeeping, Payroll and Marketing. Julie enjoys camping, baseball and aerobics.

Dett and Julie currently reside in Nassau, and have two boys – Nick and Corey.

Otterbeck Builders, Inc. began in 1988, operating from a home office for about five years. Dett worked in the field during the day and would see customer's and prepare estimates in the evening. In 2003, OBI moved into new office space and showroom currently located at 4151 US 20, Castleton, New York. The business currently employs 11 people including: a full time sales person, Production Manager, and +/- 8 Lead Carpenters/Carpenters. Together we produce between 40 and 50 jobs per year.

Remodeling Magazine awarded the “Big 50” to Otterbeck Builders, Inc. in 2004, our industries leading publication. The award was received in the “Team Work” category and goes to 50 remodeling companies out of about 2000 each year. OBI has also been featured in Capital Region Building, a local building and remodeling trade magazine. The company continually strives to excel in all areas of the business including: Sales, Design, Marketing, Production, Employee Education and Customer Service.

Nick Otterbeck, Senior Project Planner

Nick graduated from Hudson Valley Community College in the spring of 2010.  He majored in construction technologies and business management.  He has been working summers for the company for many years as well as by his Dad’s side since he was young.  In the Fall of 2012 he joined our Sales Department; which includes Sales, Design, Estimating, Scheduling, Purchasing & Job Costing and looks forward to continuing on in the family business.

Nick enjoys baseball, as he has played with many local teams, and is also a huge Boston Red Sox fan. His other hobbies include riding his ATV, hunting, and fishing.

Corey Otterbeck, Senior Project Planner

Corey comes to OBI with a Associates Degree in Criminal Justice,  as well as taken several construction technology courses from Hudson Valley Community College to give him knowledge of the construction trade.  He has been working in our Sales Department; which includes Sales, Design, Estimating, Scheduling, Purchasing & Job Costing since the Fall 2017.  He is looking forward to continuing on in the family business with his older brother Nick.

Corey enjoys playing in travel paintball tournaments and recreation volleyball. Watching his favorite football team (The Giants).  His hobbies include riding ATV's, turkey hunting, fishing and spending time with his German Shepherd "Maya".

Jeremy Mizener, Estimator

Jeremy began his career as an apprentice for a general contractor.  To maximize and refine his skills, he chose to focus on specific trades and joined one of the largest wood-framing companies in the area.  He also gained experience in commercial construction with metal framing, drywall installation and both acoustical and hard-lid ceiling systems. He established his own construction company in 2002 thru 2025, with over 30 years experience, he was looking for a new challenge in the construction field and joined Otterbeck Builders.       

Rudy Jahn

Rudy has over 30 years of experience in the building and remodeling field.  His carpentry and management skills are top notch!  He ran his own business before coming to Otterbeck Builders.  Rudy has been a very dependable and reliable employee for over 25 years with the OBI Team.

Rudy’s hobbies are playing the guitar, playing horseshoes and riding his ATV. He currently resides with his wife here in Schodack.

Daniel Bondi

Dan has over 27 years experience (15 years professionally).  Dan was taught at a very young age by his father, who was a career carpenter.  From framing to finish, he takes great pride in creating a finished product.   "Paying Attention"  to every detail, wanting to exceed a customer's expectation!  He enjoys doing wood flooring, tile work and custom finish trim work.  

Dan is a huge Yankees Fan!  He enjoys being in the outdoors hunting and fishing.  Also, spending time with his family camping and kayaking.

Brendan Cox

Brendan joins the OBI Team with over 25 years of owning his own remodeling business.  What he enjoys most in construction is finish carpentry and custom cabinetry work.

Brendan's hobbies include fishing, music and traveling.

Michael Favitta

Michael has 10 years experience in the construction field from the start to finish of the building process.  His favorite aspect in the building trade is custom woodworking, from cabinetry, built-ins and trim details.

Michael's hobbies include camping, fishing, hiking and woodworking in his shop.

Peter Diamond

Peter has been in the construction field for more than 20 years.  Prior to joining Otterbeck Builders, he owned his own contracting company with the focus on residential remodeling.  Peter also has a Master's Degree in Education and has taught 7th grade social studies. 

Peter lives in Delmar with his family.  He enjoys the outdoors, boating on Lake George and watching a great movie.

Erik Jeschke

Erik joins the OBI Team with experience in the landscaping, patio pavers and decks and can operate heavy equipment. Also, he has been in the construction and electrical field for 2 years.

Erik enjoys riding ATV's, boating with friends, rock climbing and going to the gym.  Assisting friends and neighbors when needed.

Jay Lee

Jay has 5 years of residential remodeling experience, working from rough framing to finish.  He mostly enjoys interior finish trim and tile work, with his main focus is on producing quality results.  He also has background in art and interior design.  With a strong eye for design to complete finish work. 

Jay enjoys weekend day trips, eating at hidden-gem restaurants, playing catch and baseball.
